David L. Quick Sr. Obituary (2015)

Rio - David L Quick Sr., age 62 passed away suddenly, Tuesday Sept 1, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love he created with his children and with his new love. He was born in Peoria, IL and continued to spend his youth there. He was the oldest of nine and was a challenge to his parents because of the spirit in which he lived. He jumped trains, dodged bulls and snakes. He was also a care taker for a lot of his siblings and cousins. He later served his country as a Navy Seal (UDT) in Vietnam and was awarded the purple heart. After the service he moved back to his home roots with a purpose of being reunited with his childhood love that became his wife of 30 years. He often spoke that she was the thoughts he kept with him on his time away. They had later settled with their three children in Rio, Wisconsin and created a home that was fully lived in. The time they spent together, before she was called back home from a long and courage battle of cancer, was filled with a love that was unmeasured. He was a loving husband and father who's greatest joy was spending time with them and truly made their world his own. He enjoyed nature had a love for fishing and camping. While he was able he enjoyed hunting and would always bring home a manly smell. His last year, months and days were enriched by a new love. He found a laughter in his heart he had once lost and those around him were thankful for this gift and by the special person who gave it. For those close to him they will always remember being put up in the barn on family visits, loyalty, number one a$$hole, his laughter, how he loved and strongly felt passionate about things, puppy dog ears, Thursdays, little notes, his mind of it's own hair, boogers, grumpy old men, hide and seek, swimming, marshmallow fights, monkey piles, floured hands, smacks and yicks, gummy bears, Pretty Woman with his own versions, and most of all his unconditional love and embrace. He is survived by his children David L Quick J.R.(son), Brandon Quick(son), Amanda Quick(daughter), Mother Shirley Quick, Mother in law Patricia Plotner, Grandchildren Jackson Quick and Damien Helmstetter.
