Dean Cook

Dean R. “Cookie” Cook, age 85, of Reedsburg, passed away Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. He was born December 13, 1940 in Baraboo, WI to Forrest and Myrtle Cook.

Dean married Judith A. Cook on March 19, 1966, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Throughout his working years, he was employed at the Baraboo Co-op and Libby’s (Seneca Foods) in Baraboo. Dean proudly served his country in the Armed Forces, stationed in Germany.Dean enjoyed cheering on his favorite Wisconsin teams, including the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers. He also loved watching NASCAR and spending time observing the birds in his backyard. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures, especially enjoying a meal or treat from Dairy Queen or Culver’s.

He is survived by his daughters Carrie Schwerman and Chris Cook; granddaughters Stefanie (Josh) Gunderson and Rebecca Schwerman; great-grandsons Cole and Cameron Gunderson; sister and brother-in-law Mary (Mike) Schell; cousins Gary (Darleen) Wohling and Lila (Bob) Lehman; special friend/neighbor Dan Biermier and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judith in 2010; parents Forrest and Myrtle Cook; in-laws Ray and Vanelia Gaumitz; sisters Marcella (Leo) Schwantz, Betty Koch, Arlene (Stanley) Gonzagowski; brothers Donald (Carol) Cook, Franklin Cook, Everett (Karen) Cook; sister-in-law Charlene Cook; brother-in-law Harvey Cook; nephew Brian Schell.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel in Reedsburg. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Grasse Funeral Home in Reedsburg from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and again Thursday, October 29 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the family.
