Dean Roundy, 68, passed away following a difficult journey with mixed dementia on Monday, October 12, 2026 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He was born on April 1958 to Lloyd and Delores (Hein) Roundy.
Dean grew up in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, where he attended school and graduated in 1976. Growing up, Dean was a country boy. He was involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and spent time helping his parents on their farm. In many ways, Dean never lost the kid inside him. He could find happiness in the things that reminded him of being young. Dean inherited his love of fast sports cars from his mother and his love of trains from his father. Dean was truly a kid at heart; despite growing older, he was an ageless wonder. He had a great sense of humor, loved joking around and playing tricks on people.
Dean was a true free spirit of his generation who lived a life full of unique experiences. He was an avid reader of just about anything and everything, from last year’s newspapers and 20 year old Reader’s Digests to cereal boxes, books, travel magazines, and Archie Comic Books. If there were words to read, Dean would find them.
He also loved music and concerts, enjoying artists and bands such as Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Styx, and many other great musicians. Dean loved finding a great sale – a trait that appears to have been hereditary.
Dean struggled with addiction and traveled a road that was often more difficult than most. Through it, he remained a kind soul who had a heart of gold. He would do anything to help his friends and family. Generous and trusting sometimes to a fault, Dean was often taken advantage of, yet he would still keep giving.
Throughout his working life, Dean held a variety of jobs. He worked at the Wyocena Cooperative from 1976 to 1980 until it burned. From 1980 to 1984, he worked at the Fall River Foundry. He enjoyed a 30 year career at Cascade Mountain, followed by painting and maintenance work at Saddle Ridge, along with various construction jobs.
Dean was a devoted son, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Brandy (Derek) Foulkes of Fall River, Becky Roundy (Tyler Jensen) of McFarland, Bobbie (Steve) Smith of Fall River, and Samuel Roundy of Markesan, who choose to remember him for his wildest dreams, passion for adventure, his love of being a jokester, and the happy memories they shared with him. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Dylan Foulkes, Devin Foulkes, Haley Roundy (Hunter Goodwin), Phenix Roundy, Eliza Peetz, Blake Borman, Isaiah Jensen, and Parker Jensen; great-grandchildren Aubree Roundy and Dekker Foulkes.
Dean is further survived by his siblings, Russell (Donna) Roundy, Sue Berg, Dennis (Suzie) Roundy; brother-in-law, Mark Landsverk; the mothers of his children, Cindy Thomas and Allison Bahr; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Delores; his sister Linda Landsverk; infant brother, Larry, and by his brother-in-law, Randy Berg.
