Our On-Site Crematory

Grasse Funeral Service is the only funeral home in Columbia County with an on-site crematory, located at our Rio location. When a family chooses cremation with us, it takes place here, at our own facility, rather than somewhere else.

Why that matters

Most funeral homes do not have a crematory of their own. When they do not, a loved one has to be transported to a third-party facility in another community and then brought back. Because our crematory is at our Rio location, that trip does not happen, and your loved one remains in the care of the same people you have been speaking with

Cremation with a service, or on its own

Cremation can be part of a traditional funeral, beginning with a visitation or a memorial ceremony, or it can stand on its own as a private arrangement. Some families gather before the cremation, and others hold a service weeks later when everyone can travel. There is no single right way to do it, and we will help you find the one that fits your family.
